Starburst is one of the games that have gotten a lot of attention from casinos since it was launched by Net Ent. You’re going to often see free spins being offered for this particular game when you sign-up at various casinos. It’s not the kind of game that I’d normally swoon after, not with the classic theme that it uses, but there is no denying the quality of the design, even if you don’t like the choice of symbols. Players should expect a slot machine which relies on just 10 lines to form its combinations. Those combos can pay up to $2,500. It might not sound like much, but the re-spins and the expanding wilds that are used together will improve the payout ratio tremendously.

As far as the number of lines goes, you’re getting fewer here than in other titles from Net Ent. It only offers 10 lines, which is why I suspect that you’re getting so often free spins to use for this game. You also have the option to change the number of lines here, which is something that Net Ent rarely does lately. For each of those lines, the bets use a maximum of 10 coins, while coin values get up to $1. The minimum bet of the game is at $0.01, while the maximum bet is $100.

There is no clear theme here, just a focus on the Starburst feature and on the classic symbols that are part of quite a few other slots. The advantage is the quality of the design, so you’re going to see much better looking classics than you’re used to. You’re not going to see a classic layout though, but a modern one, which has 5 columns of 3 symbols each. It’s a typical video slot in other words, a game that you can play and which will have some features for you. The symbols are classic choices, as I mentioned, and the list starts with the Bar Logo, then continues with the Red 7 and with gemstones of different shapes and colored in yellow, green, red, blue and purple. The only feature symbol available is that of the Starburst, shaped like a star obviously. If the design is the part that interests you in a game, then you will be happy with the look of Starburst. It’s one of the few modern titles where the classic symbols are getting a proper treatment. They’re nice to look at, and in the background you’re going to see an image that looks like it’s inspired by the Universe and its stars.

The game doesn’t give us as many features as other titles, but the few that are offered are actually rather impressive, and rarely seen in other games. You have the stacked regular symbols on one side, and the wild on the other. The feature symbol in this game shows a Star with rainbow like colors used for its eight arms. The symbol is used as the wild, and so its appearance on an active line and with matching regular symbols appearing from one border of the game area to the other, will allow it to participate and the player will get an extra prize this way. You have these wild symbols only on the middle reels, so the columns 2, 3 and 4. When the wild symbol appears on one of those reels, it expands on it, and occupies all three available positions. You will see a re-spin next, with the wild reel locked in place. You can have up to five re-spins this way, and there can be additional wild reels as a result of new wilds that can come in. Since these are locked expanded wilds, they have a chance to contribute to quite a few winning combinations at the same time, especially since the regular symbols appear stacked and can occupy entire reels themselves.

In the case of Starburst, players can win up to 2,500 coins, which would be the equivalent of only 250 times the line bet. Each wild that appears triggers a re-spin though, so the game still ends up with an average RTP that goes to around 96.10%.

With that average RTP, of over 96%, the game is good enough to play, but thanks to its classic theme I wouldn’t exactly recommend you spend your money on it, except maybe if you want to try out the locked wilds with those free re-spins.
